Anglia Components is aiming for a turnover of £150m as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The company was founded in 1972 and has just changed its structure to be a private limited company (plc) with the same governance and audit requirements as its publicly listed competitors in the UK.
The company, based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, currently has a turnover of £100m with 3000 customers and has opened the second phase of a £2m expansion that increases the floor space capacity by 40%. This is being used for larger components and allows the rest of the space to be restructured says John Bowman, marketing director at Anglia.
“Anglia achieved a compound annual growth rate of 25% over the last two years despite the challenges in the economy and in the tech industry. We’ve proved our resilience in one of the most difficult markets any of us have experienced,” said Anglia CEO Steve Rawlins.
“This is because we hold one of the highest inventory levels relative to the size of the business in the industry and were bold enough to invest further to support our customers through the supply chain challenges. As a privately owned company, we can continue this strategy as we grow. We have scaled up our distribution centre facility to allow us to continue to increase our inventory levels as our business expands,” he said.
“We are looking at low single digit growth this year,” said Bowman. “It will be bumpy for probably 14 to 18 months.”
Holding inventory is key for this with the expansion. “The building was empty and now is the right time for the expansion,” he said. Anglia stocks over 2 billion components from over 1.3 million product lines in the UK.
The opening ceremony last week was attended by Frank Wolinski, Regional Vice President of Channel Sales at STMicroelectronics, one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers who Anglia has worked closely with for nearly 25 years.
“I am honoured to be invited to open this new building, a key milestone in Anglia’s history. Anglia has been our Demand Creation Distributor of the Year for two years running,” said Wolinski at ST. “The expanded facility in Wisbech means that they can continue to hold the levels of inventory needed to support customers once these projects go into production.”
