Angst+Pfister AG (Zurich, Switzerland), a maker of industrial and medical technical components, has acquired MEMS pressure sensor die business of Acuity Inc. (Fremont, Calif.) for an undisclosed sum.

Acuity was founded in 2007 by the pressure sensor industry executives Jim Knutti and Henry Allen as a fabless supplier of high-performance MEMS-based pressure sensor dies. The company provides low-pressure sensors dies that measure from 20 bar down to 2.0 mbar.

Angst+Pfister will operate the Acuity business as part of its Angst+Pfister Sensors and Power subsidiary – formerly known as Pewatron. Knutti and Allen will continue as consultants to Angst+Pfister with a focus on developing novel pressure sensor die products in collaboration with the Angst+Pfister engineering team.

“We do hold a firm belief that Acuity is in the right hands at Angst+Pfister. They have a sustainable, long-term-oriented business approach, the required capabilities in their team and the global reach in their organization. Customers will keep receiving great service and technical support. Henry and I are looking forward co-operating with the Angst+Pfister team to develop new, high performing pressure sensor die products,” said Knutti, president of Acuity, in a statement issued by Angst+Pfister.
