Aqara brings spatial intelligence to smart homes at IFA 2025
Aqara is putting spatial intelligence at the center of its next wave of smart home solutions, unveiling a broad range of new products and platform updates at IFA 2025 in Berlin. The lineup spans security, energy management, and interoperability, with a strong emphasis on AI-driven sensing and automation.
For eeNews Europe readers, the announcement highlights how IoT and Matter are evolving in real-world applications, with Aqara pushing interoperability, device intelligence, and energy efficiency across EU and UK markets.
Enhancing home security through AI-powered smart home devices
The headline product is the Doorbell Camera G400 (Wired), a PoE- or low-voltage-powered device featuring a 2K sensor, head-to-toe coverage, IP65 rating, and AI detection for faces, packages, vehicles, and animals. It supports Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and Home Assistant, with flexible storage options.
Two surveillance prototypes also make their debut. The Camera G510 (Battery) is Aqara’s first solar-powered, battery-operated outdoor camera, while the Home Station M410 acts as a central IoT hub, extending camera range and battery life while offering high-capacity local video storage and Matter hub functionality.
Cathy You, Senior Vice President of Global Business and Strategy at Aqara, said: “At Aqara, we see spatial intelligence as the next frontier in smart home technology, and we’re proud to be at the forefront of this evolution. Our demonstrations at IFA highlight how advanced sensing, AI-driven insights, and contextual automation work together to deliver smarter environments—whether in residential homes, office buildings, hotels, retail spaces, or public facilities—that not only respond to user commands but also anticipate and adapt to user needs.”
Energy and interoperability upgrades
On the energy side, Aqara introduced the Radiator Thermostat W600, a dual Thread/Zigbee device with two-year battery life and wider valve compatibility, plus the Climate Sensor W100 for optimized indoor control.
The company is also expanding its H2 series of smart plugs and outlets for the EU and UK, including the Wall Outlet H2 UK with USB-C fast charging, the Power Plug H2, and the Outdoor Plug H2 EU. A prototype of the Power Strip H2 EU was also on display. All products feature Matter support and power monitoring for automation.
Interoperability is addressed with the new Hub M200, a multi-protocol Matter controller that supports Thread, Zigbee, dual-band Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and infrared. It bridges Aqara Zigbee devices into Matter systems while doubling as a 360° IR blaster for legacy gadgets.
Platform and cloud enhancements
Beyond hardware, Aqara is refreshing its Aqara Home app with a “Soft Sensor” feature that uses AI to infer room occupancy, and an upgraded automation engine with WHEN-IF-THEN logic and batch controls. Local LAN control via edge hubs improves responsiveness and resilience during internet outages.
On the cloud side, HomeGuardian now supports cloud AI detection, video summarization powered by vision-language models, and richer push notifications with snapshots.
The new portfolio underscores Aqara’s intent to marry AI and interoperability for the next generation of connected living.
