Arduino and Distrelec get together to launch automation and robotics contest

By eeNews Europe

The contest will be based at the Arduino Project hub, which is linked below. Contestants will be able to use any of the boards, libraries and online platforms within the Arduino ecosystem. The hardware offering includes boards powered by Arduino, Intel and Arm devices. For example, in an industrial application, one of these boards could use Arduino Create Cloud to connect and control industrial machinery. A robotics project could use an Arduino board specifically targetting robotics, such as the Arduino MKR1000 or Arduino Due to control a drone.

Entries will be judged originality, quality, creativity and the social impact. The first phase of the competition will focus on ideas, and will involve the concept, BoM, schematics and code. Micro contests will be held throughout the phase with weekly prizes from supporting companies such as RND Group and Seeed Studio. Contestants who progress to the second stage will receive a 75 Euro coupon to spend at Distrelec to get their projects running.

The final winning entries will receive:

1st place: Trip to Rome Maker Faire on October 12, 2018, plus a Keithley Tabletop Multimeter

2nd place: Weller Soldering Station and accessories

3rd -10th place: Seeed Studio Grove Starter Kit

The deadline for ideas and concepts is June 29, 2018; the deadline to submit full projects is September 16, 2018. The final winners will be announced on October 1, 2018.
