ARM, Fujitsu Semi in strategic licence agreement
The agreement includes ARM’s Cortex-A15 microprocessor, graphics IP and CoreLink system IP. Both companies already have established a close collaboration since more than ten years. Past December, Fujitsu launched the FM3 microcontroller family which is already based on ARMs Cortex M3 microporcessor, targeting industrial and standard applications.
According to Fujitsu, the combination of scalable compatible processor IP with its own engineering expertise will enable the company to offer highly complex SoC platforms based on ARM microprocessor architectures. In addition, Fujitsu also plans to develop ARM-based ASSPs, scheduled for roll-out during the second half of the year. The company also will provide the IP acquired from ARM to ASIC customers.
Fujitsu also announced to synchronize its product roadmap with ARM. Fujitsu also will be involved into future ARM technology developments already in the specification phase.
One of Fujitsu’s main markets in Europe is the automotive industry, for which it provides dashboard and body electronics solutions.
