ARM invests in cloud processor hopeful
Ampere has links that go back to the X-Gene processor business that previously belonged to Applied Micro Circuits Corp. and is led by former Intel senior vice president Renee James.
As with the previous first round raised in February 2018 (see Former Intel exec leads high-performance processor startup) the size of the funding or the valuation were not revealed.
“We are thrilled with the progress Ampere has made over the past 18 months and are excited to continue supporting the team as they work to transform the market for server processors that power modern cloud workloads,” said Patrick McCarter, managing director at The Carlyle Group, in a statement issued by Ampere.
