The SRC was founded in 1982 as non-profit organization by several United States based chip manufacturers. The SRC is now comprised of companies and universities from around the world that participate in a number of research programs.
The Global Research Collaboration (GRC) program under SRC includes: AMD, Analog Devices, Freescale, Globalfoundries, IBM, Intel, Mentor Graphics, Microsoft, Mubadala Technology, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and ARM.
As well as focusing on manufacturing priorities such as scaling of semiconductor technologies, the GRC program has expanded into cybersecurity, the convergence of semiconductors and biology, energy-efficient computing and the Internet of Things, the SRC said.
