The latest mbed device platform release includes the mbed Device Connector, a service that businesses can use to connect and manage IoT devices. Available at connector.mbed.com, mbed Device Connector is free for developers to use on up to 100 devices, handling up to 10,000 events per hour.
The platform also includes the latest version of the mbed OS free operating system (the technology preview version) and new mbed reference designs. The mbed OS is designed to run on Cortex-M based MCUs and includes native support for the Thread protocol and is available from mbed.com
"ARM mbed partners now have access to the fundamental building blocks to develop and securely deploy IoT devices at any scale,” said Krisztian Flautner, general manager, IoT business, ARM.
Reference designs include a wearable with an eight-week battery life and one for the smart city that uses sub-gigahertz 6LoWPAN & CoAP mesh networking.
Since ARM launched the mbed IoT Device Platform in October2014 more than 55 companies and institutions have joined the mbed partnership program and the mbed community has grown to more than 150,000 developers, ARM said.
