Affected by the job cuts ae Audi’s production sites in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm (both Germany). In the latter plant, Audi models A4 to A8 and R8 are built. Due to the crisis over combustion engines, however, the plant with its capacity of 300,000 cars per year is not operating at full capacity – in the current year less than 200,000 units will be produced there. Capacity is to be reduced to 225,000 units in the future. The plant in Ingolstadt is designed for more than 500,000 vehicles per year, but produces significantly less. Capacity is therefore to be reduced to 450,000 units in the future.

At the same time as the job cuts were made public, the carmaker also announced the planned hiring of 2000 new workers. The company is now looking for experts in electromobility and digitization. This also includes the automation of driving and the creation of new digital business models.
