Automotive MEMS oscillators for harsh environments
Also included in the series is the a multiple MEMs oscillator, an industry first. The multiple MEMs oscillator allows developers to replace multiple devices with a single package.
Available in small packages, the DSA1001, DSA11x1, DSA11x5 and DSA2311 provide high tolerance to mechanical shock and jarring in automotive environments. The devices are stable over the 2.3 MHz to 170 MHz frequency range and are AEC-Q100 qualified with +/-20 ppm stability over the -40 to +125 oC temperature range.
MEMs devices use standard silicon processes, which make them as reliable and stable as other semiconductor devices. The frequency of MEMs oscillators is programmed rather than being set by the process, which means that they have shorter lead times and the frequency can be changed at short notice.
The DSA2311 has dual oscillators on-board, saving on space and cost. It is available in a 2.5 mm x 2.0 mm package and is suited for applications that require a complex board with multiple controllers, such as infotainment systems and camera modules.
Microchip’s ClockWorks online configuration tool allows designers to order free samples and easily select the right oscillator based on frequency, package size and temperature range at clockworks.microchip.com/timing.
