Avery Dennison and Wiliot are expanding their strategic partnership to boost the manufacturing and reach of ambient IoT technologies, aiming to deliver smart supply chain sensors that provide real-time visibility and intelligence. The move builds on their 2022 collaboration and leverages Avery Dennison’s global scale and R&D strengths.
For eeNews Europe readers, this news highlights how two major players are accelerating the shift toward more connected, data-rich supply chains — with implications for everything from logistics to retail and pharma.
Scaling next-gen sensor technology
Under the new agreement, Avery Dennison will manufacture Wiliot’s latest IoT Bluetooth-enabled sensors. These feature a smaller chip footprint and simplified inlay architecture, which substantially lowers costs while improving performance. The result, according to the companies, is a platform that makes ambient IoT more scalable and economically viable across industries.
Avery Dennison is integrating Wiliot’s solutions into its Intelligent Labels portfolio and its connected product cloud atma.io. This integration aims to accelerate adoption of real-time visibility solutions for supply chains worldwide.
“Ambient IoT is emerging as a foundational layer of digital infrastructure – providing real-time, context-rich visibility into the movement, condition, and handling of goods at scale,” said Francisco Melo, president, Solutions Group at Avery Dennison. “By deepening our partnership with Wiliot, we’re combining their breakthrough ambient IoT technology with our world-class RFID design and manufacturing capabilities through a robust go-to-market strategy to help global brands realize the full potential of a future-proof, fully-connected, and intelligent supply chain.”
Targeting global demand
Wiliot’s sensors convert traditionally unconnected assets into intelligent, connected products, offering condition monitoring, automation, and supply chain intelligence. Importantly, they run without batteries or manual scans and rely on widely available Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) infrastructure — making continuous, low-cost monitoring possible through smartphones, gateways, and access points.
“Wiliot’s ambient IoT technology is helping reimagine the economics of visibility, where automation, efficiency, and real-time intelligence finally converge,” said Tal Tamir, co-founder and CEO of Wiliot. “Avery Dennison’s renowned client-centric approach, design and manufacturing expertise, and ability to produce our IoT sensors at scale – helping bring them to market through relationships with established partners – positions us to meet the needs of some of the world’s largest and most dynamic enterprises. With better performance, lower costs, and scaled global manufacturing, we’re opening the door to a new generation of smart, connected products that can be tracked, monitored, and optimized in real time.”
Broad market potential
The companies see applications in food, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and reusable packaging, where monitoring location, temperature, humidity, and handling conditions is critical. Wiliot’s platform is already deployed by global retailers and supply chain leaders to reduce waste, ensure freshness, automate inventory, and improve responsiveness.
With Avery Dennison’s backing, Wiliot now expects to deliver its technology at scale, addressing industries where traceability and continuous visibility are becoming essential.
