Avnet Abacus to debut at Embedded World with LED-related products
This emerging market requires much more than single component approach, the company emphasized. In solid state lighting it is important to support the LEDs with high reliability driver IC circuitry, passives and connectors in order to maximize the benefits of moving away from older, inefficient filament & fluorescent technology.
Comments Alan Jermyn, VP European Marketing at Avnet Abacus: “We have paired exciting new, enabling technology from companies such as Cymbet and Enpirion with passive and electromechanical products from the industry’s leading names to ensure that designers looking to develop energy- and cost-efficient embedded systems can access a full package of parts designed to work perfectly together. Embedded World 2012 is the perfect opportunity for us to showcase our technical and applications capabilities, and we will also take the opportunity to feature products only recently launched.”
LED applications present a unique set of challenges and subsequent product requirements, the company points out. Fixture assembly and installation in the field demand a versatile range of interconnection solutions enabling multiple individual units to be connected. These units could be PCBs or standalone modules for scalable applications such as architectural cove lighting, signage or emergency lighting.
Avnet Abacus’ LED-related product range includes in particular interconnect solutions be it wire-to-wire, wire-to-board, board-to -board or customer-specific designs. The company also sells constant-current power sources and thermal control products such as LED heat sinks and other protection components designed specifically for solid-state lighting applications.
