
Azure IoT kit giveaway
In support of this amazing giveaway, the element14 Community and Hackster.io are offering the chance to win from a collective prize fund of $70,000 for members who get their Azure sphere kit online and show the capabilities of the board through one of two design challenges.
To get started, members of both communities can sign up to receive one of 20,000 Microsoft Azure Sphere boards (value $75). To receive this free board, members are required to pay shipping costs and local taxes. Once they have their Microsoft Azure board, users can get involved in a number of ways.
– Connection challenge: element14 members who get their Azure kit online and send data for 15 consecutive days before August 30, 2019, get the chance to win one of 50 $200 gift cards.
– The element14 community has launched its ‘Sensing the World’ design challenge giving members maximum freedom to develop an IoT device that demonstrates the vast potential of Azure Sphere for a chance to win a Microsoft prize bundles (3 Grand Prize bundles worth $3,500 USD each, and 10 runner-up bundles worth $1,500 USD each) with winners having several options for the gear they want.
The bundle can include Surface laptops or tablets, Xbox gaming systems, HoloLens VR gear, and more. Within their challenge design, participants can use their choice of peripherals, complementing the on-board connectivity, sensors and expansion possibilities, as well as choose their own application. Submitted projects will be judged on ingenuity and how well they achieve their stated purpose.
– Hackster.io has launched its “Secure Everything” Design Challenge focusing on the increasing need for security. Participants are challenged to create a highly-secured, connected MCU-powered device using Azure Sphere. Projects should satisfy one of a number of defined themes including building and home automation, smart retail and energy and renewables solutions.
Once again there are great prizes on offer including 3 x Microsoft Hololens 2 worth $3,500, 7 Surface Laptop 2 worth $1000 and 500 Raspberry Pi4 worth $35 each.
Both challenges close for entries on 30 September, 2019.
