The work will be done by BAE Systems’ FAST Labs R&D organization.
Military-grade technology has come to rely on commercial off-the-shelf manufacturing processes but also requires custom capabilities. However, the delays in developing those custom capabilities has, in the past, involved significant time delays, BAE Systems said.

“Early access to Intel’s developing technology can speed the timetable of producing defense applications and maintain our country’s technological edge,” said Chris Rappa, director at BAE Systems’ FAST Labs, said in a statement.
In October 2020 Intel was awarded a contract under the ‘State-of-the-art Heterogeneous Integration Prototype (SHIP) packaging program. BAE Systems is collaborating with Intel on that program.
