Battery monitor chip withstands high voltages and temperatures
The 191ExxxxS family of chips detects both under- and over-voltages on the vehicle battery. The classification in class 0 of the AEC-Q100 specification certifies reliable operation at extremely low (-40°C) as well as very high (150°C) temperatures. Since, according to the manufacturer, the S-191ExxxxS series has passed all stress tests in all classes, it ensures highly reliable voltage monitoring even under extreme environmental conditions in applications such as exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) or automatic transmission (AT). The manufacturer sees further potential applications in the field of engines for EVs and PHEVs.
The S-191ExxxxS series is available in an ultra-small HSNT-8 (2030) package (2.0 x 3.0 x t0.5 mm), meeting the growing demand for ever smaller components in the automotive industry.
The current consumption of the S-191ExxxxS series has been reduced to a nominal value of only 0.9 μA. The ICs are powered directly from the battery at extremely low quiescent current values, making them ideal for systems that require continuous measurement. The S- 191ExxxxS series complies with the PPAP standard regarding the production part acceptance procedure.
