Biometric authentication is in secure element on payment card
To achieve this Fingerprints rewrote its authentication software to reduce the memory requirements so that it would fit inside the Infineon 40nm SLC38 Secure Element. Infineon is the market leader in security controllers for contactless payments and they are found in about 50 percent of cards.
To demonstrate processing in the secure element Fingerprints combined Infineon’s 40nm security controller (SLC38) with a T2 sensor module and the latest biometric software for payments.
The performance includes:
Latency time of 250ms
False acceptance rate of 1 in 20,000 authentication attempts
False rejection rate of less than 3 percent of authentication attempts.
The fingerprint sensor software is available to payment card manufacturers globally now.
