Bitcoin-enabled Euro payment solution operates as a mobile e-wallet
An open source, free software protocol for electronic transaction processing, Bitcoin is an experimental new digital currency that enables instant payments to anyone, anywhere in the world. – www.bitcoin.org – it is one of the first implementations of a concept called crypto-currency. Building upon the notion that money is any object, or any sort of record, accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts in a given country or socio-economic context, Bitcoin is designed around the idea of using cryptography to control the creation and transfer of money, rather than relying on central authorities.
Paymium will isolate customers and merchants from any conversion rate risk by leveraging Bitcoin-Central, a bitcoin trading platform also operated by Paymium and fully integrated with Paytunia. Thanks to the agreement with Aqoba, funds deposited in Euro to Paytunia or Bitcoin-Central (bitcoin trading platform integrated with Paytunia) will enjoy the same level of legal protection as any other bank account in France. The Paytunia Pro version enables merchant to present shoppers with a standard bitcoin QR code to receive payments in Euros or Bitcoins: by virtue of the free software nature of Bitcoin, the tablet and smartphone application does not require the customer to be registered with Paytunia. By accepting any bitcoin-compatible application, Paytunia Pro solves the interoperability issue that has plagued mobile wallet developments until today. Payments in Euro are processed through the Bitcoin network.
Paytunia Pro provides merchants with the benefits of using Bitcoin (easy setup, no chargebacks, low fees, immediate payments, regardless of a customer’s country of residence) without the need to display prices in Bitcoin (a difficult step to take for most merchants). Paytunia is developped and operated by Paymium as part of a range of 4 Paymium payment solutions: trading of bitcoins for currencies with bitcoin-central.net, direct purchase of bitcoins on instawire.org as well as mobile and e-wallet on instawallet.org.
