The two companies are bringing together Bitsensing’s MOD620 60GHz vital signs sensor and Infineon’s Tricore MCU-with-DSP.

The MOD620 has a 120-degree field of view combined with the customizable detection range up to 2.5m and can capture all rear-seat space. The rearrangeable antenna in the MOD620 allows for customization in channel length compensation, field of view, and matching circuits for transmitters and receivers.

The MOD620 is used to detect in-car passenger presence and location by way of heartbeat and respiration rate. The same system when specifically applied to a driver can be used to recognize drowsiness behaviours and can initiate distraction warnings or offer post-crash monitoring. The MOD620 can also be used to identify if passengers are left unattended in emergencies such as car crashes.

The same unit can be used to detect and alert the presence of a child left in a car without the use of cameras.

“Bitsensing is the first and only Korean startup that can deliver all aspects of auto-grade radar solutions, in-house. Our world-class engineers designed the MOD620 with the Infineon chipset to offer a new level of confidence in safety for an industry that demands excellence, reliability, and unmatched intelligence,” said Jae-Eun Lee, CEO of Bitsensing, in a statement.
