The merged entity will bear the name Blaupunkt Technology Group and focus on product design and engineering solutions with an integrated portfolio for customers in the automotive, medical equipment and other high-tech electronics industries.

Blaupunkt has been launched in 1923 and was a subsidiary of automotive tier one Bosch Group until 2008 when it was split into two entities: Blaupunkt’s OEM business remained a Bosch subsidiary and was re-baptized to Bosch Car Multimedia. The company’s aftermarket business with some 1.800 workers and sales of about €200 million were sold along with the Blaupunkt brand to Aurelius. In 2009, Aurelius sold Blaupunkt’s antenna business to RF expert company Kathrein KG.

BrightOne was formed out of former activities of Finish IT company Tieto who sold certain activities in Germany, Poland and India to Aurelius earlier this year. The company serves customers in automotive, banking, energy, medical equipment and telecommunication industries and employs some. BrightONEs Smart Product Solutions division is focusing on embedded systems development and employs about 100 workers.

Blaupunkt Technology Group will remain a subsidiary of brightONE. Besides its traditional activities, it will add consulting services, systems integration and software development, said brightONE general manager Alexander Graf.
