The smartphone app enables users to control smart home functions via smartphone. The prototype shown at Cebit (at the stand of Deutsche Telekom in hall 4) can be integrated into BMW’s HMI, utilising the A4A interface developed for BMW’s ConnectedDrive infotainment system which allows complete integration of smartphone screen content and user interface of third part apps. The vehicle’s center stack screen displays the smartphone content; control commands to the app can be entered through BMW’s iDrive Controller.

Besides controlling the ambient temperature in the home from the car, the system allows users to read out status data from the Qivicon platform. For instance they can check if doors and windows are closed.

Another infotainment application shown at Cebit is the myKIDIO app which BMW developed along with Deutsche Telekom and a content partner. In this system, rear seat passengers use the backseat screens or tablet computers to display entertainment content for kids. The driver or the person at the passenger seat can launch the infotainment program through the iDrive Controller; in addition he/she can access the content of the rear seat displays to monitor that content. The "Kids Cockpit" function displays the current driving speed and the time to go as well as outside temperatures and other information that satisfies the curiosity of the rear seat passengers (as long as they are kids).

Another BMW exhibit at Cebit is an evolution of the companies ChargeNow mobility service for electric cars. The service supports e-car drivers searching and using public charging stations. New is the integration of ChargeNow into the international, provider-agnostic e-car charging services roaming platform Hubject.
