hubjet’s purpose is to design, launch and operate a platform that handles all infrastructure data necessary for the communication between mobility providers and vehicle vendors in the segment of charging infrastructure. The new entity has been designed as an open platform and is interested in integrating as many partners as possible.

The background of the move is that the electromobility market in Germany is gaining traction; the number of electric vehicles is climbing. Thus, demand for a charging infrastructure is rising – and this infrastructure needs to be interconnected and easily accessible. It is necessary to interlink the relevant technologies in the electromobility market, the parent companies state in a joint press release.

Besides the data platform, hubjet also plans to develop a compatibility logo which will indicate that a charging station is part of the partner network. The compatibility is achieved through back office roaming and clearing services, running on the platform operated by hubjet. These services will enable users to contract only one service provider but recharge their vehicle’s batteries at any station that carries the logo, much like roaming in mobile radio networks.

The platform will start test operation in late summer 2012.
