BMW taps Israeli high-tech startup creativity
The BMW Group has been cooperating with Israeli partners in various fields of technology for several years. The company has now announced that it will open an office for trend and technology scouting in Israel. “Tel Aviv has one of the fastest growing startup scenes in the world – especially in the key future fields for us such as autonomous driving or connectivity,” said Klaus Fröhlich, Chief Development Officer of BMW AG. “Our local presence ensures that we have faster access to relevant trends and technologies, whether from founders or universities.”
It is expected that the BMW Group Technology Office will start work at the technology hotspot Tel Aviv in the middle of this year. A small, agile team of experts from different disciplines is planned, which will network closely with local startups and evaluate and promote relevant trends, technologies and innovations. BMW will focus on the entire spectrum of local technology companies. In addition, research cooperations with universities are to be set up.
In addition to the existing Technology Offices in the USA, China, Japan and South Korea, the Technology Office in Tel Aviv will be the fifth of its kind in the global research and development network of the BMW Group.
