The BMF055 is a system-in-package that integrates a triaxial 14-bit accelerometer, a triaxial 16 bit gyroscope with a range of ± 2000 degrees per second, a triaxial geomagnetic sensor and a 32bit Cortex M0+ microcontroller. At 5.2mm by 3.8mm by 1.1mm it is smaller than comparable discrete or system on board solutions. A software development package from Bosch Sensortec supports customization for different applications.

Thus the part is suitable for sensor fusion algorithms and adding motion sensing capabilities to sensors nodes and equipment.Target market segments include robotics, gaming, remote controls, navigation systems, drones, and human interface devices for Internet of Things (IoT) projects. The part comes in a package measuring 5.2mm by 3.8mm by 1.1mm.

Software Development Package that includes a precompiled BSX Lite fusion library with integration guidelines, API source files for individual sensors and example projects as a plugin for Atmel Studio. The Atmel toolchain can be downloaded from Atmel’s website.

"The BMF055 sensor from the ASSN family is ideal for applications such as robotics, drones, gaming and navigation systems, which need a customized system-in-package solution," said Stefan Finkbeiner, CEO of Bosch Sensortec, in a statement.

Samples of the BMF055 are available form Bosch Sensortec distributors. These include Acal BFI, Mouser, Rutronik.
