Bosch launches accelerometer for wearables, IoT
The BMA400 draws ten times less current than existing accelerometers, Bosch claims. It has a step counter that draws 4 microamps and power management features such as activity recognition to help wearable devices such as fitness bands, smart clothes, watches and activity trackers to achieve extended battery life.
The BMA400 has a current consumption of 14 microamps at highest performance, continuous measurement and a noise density of 220μg/√Hz. This falls to 1μA and below in the self-wake-up mode. The sensor includes a 1kbyte FIFO and is housed in a 2.0mm by 2.0mm by 0.95mm package.
The BMA400 will be available for OEMs and distributors starting in June 2018.
