Bosch mulls selling microphone subsidiary Akustica
Bosch, now the world’s leading MEMS manufacturer and vendor, acquired startup MEMS microphone company Akustica in 2009 for an undisclosed purchase price. At the time the company had achieved considerable success getting its products designed into PCs an mobile phones.
Akustica (Pittsburgh, PA) has been operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary and since its acquisition a number of other vendors have entered the market.
Bosch said that no other MEMS entities are included in this strategic exploration.
Angle Advisors (Birmingham, Michigan) has been retained to evaluate interest in the MEMS microphone business unit.
