Bosch signs cloud battery deal for Chinese electric supercar
Bosch Connected Mobility Solutions has signed a deal with Chinese electric car maker Human Horizons for ‘Battery in the Cloud’ technology. The Bosch technology connects electric vehicle batteries with the cloud to monitor battery life, improving battery range and charging time by 20 percent
The technology will be used in the HiPhi 1 electric supercar which includes a secured-open platform that continuously adapts through machine learning. The cloud battery technology allows very precise State of Health (SOH) calculations and forecasts that can be used to further strengthen early detection of battery-related malfunctions, and establish the foundation for predictive maintenance to avoid downtime.
“Bosch is a leading supplier of automotive and smart transportation products and services, seasoned in the development and application of Internet of Vehicles (IoV), preventive safeguards based on IoT, big data solutions, and autonomous driving,” said Ding Lei, founder of Human Horizons
The deal follows a collaboration in April 2019 for Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) and remote diagnostics that will be used on the HiPhi 1. The car, launched in April 2019, will have over 500 sensors and 5G connections and be capable of Level 3 autonomy.
