BrainChip, SiFive partner on AI/ML at the edge
Spiking neural network processor IP pioneer BrainChip Holdings Ltd. is working with RISC-V computing pioneer SiFive Inc. to offer edge machine learning.
BrainChip launched its Akida processor in 2018 (see BrainChip launches spiking neural network SoC) claiming it was the first company with a commercial hardware implementation of a spiking neural network architecture.
“Employing Akida, BrainChip’s specialized, differentiated AI engine, with high-performance RISC-V processors such as the SiFive Intelligence Series is a natural choice for companies looking to seamlessly integrate an optimized processor to dedicated ML accelerators that are a must for the demanding requirements of edge AI computing,” said Chris Jones, vice president of products at SiFive, in a statement issued by BrainChip.
Akida provides AI at the edge for vision, audio, olfactory and smart transducer applications.
