Cadillac adopts LG’s flexible OLEDs for its dashboard
Co-developed with LG Display, the full-display dashboard consists of a central instrument cluster area whose display information can overflow seamlessly across three curved OLED panels, spreading the animated cues across the whole dashboard.
In a teaser video, Cadillac illustrated the concept with 3D mapping information extending on each side of the dashboard beyond the central instrument cluster. The car maker says the new concept is being developed for a future Cadillac production vehicle.
The automobile market is catching up with OLEDs, with several car manufacturers already announcing their plans to feature the curved displays, either for infotainment, contouring or indicator lights.
In January this year, LG Display was announcing a 12.3″ full-HD flexible OLED panel for the automotive market. The company also boasts Tesla and Mercedes as other high end customers.
