Calibration data tool now available as Software-as-a-Service
Development tool manufacturer Vector is providing its calibration data solution vCDM with version 21.1 as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). This will make collaboration easier and reduce investment costs, Vector promises.
The Vector Calibration Data Management System vCDM supports teams in collaborating on data statuses for automotive control units (ECUs). The vCDM server makes the data centrally available to all project members, data changes by several users are merged without conflict and are consistently traceable across all versions.
Small teams often face internal organisational challenges during implementation. Installation and operation of the vCDM server as well as the required database have to be coordinated with the in-house IT department and budgets usually have to be planned for the long term. Often the internal costs exceed the licence fees. With vCDM Software-as-a-Service, these challenges are overcome: The vCDM server is provided at the push of a button in the Vector Team Services collaboration platform. The SaaS mode is an option – if the customer prefers to use the tool in the traditional way, he can do so, a company spokesperson said. Vector Team Services is based on Microsoft Azure. Azure complies with the EU data protection regulation GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). It is also certified according to the new international standard ISO/IEC 27701 (Privacy Information Management System PIMS), whose requirements are more concrete and detailed than those of the GDPR.
In the self-service portal of the Vector Team Service Platform, users register independently and manage their user data. Subsequently, it is possible to determine which employee has which authorisations in vCDM. The subscription for vCDM for Vector Team Services includes all costs for hardware, software and operation of the vCDM server, including the required database. vCDM for Vector Team Services thus makes it possible to cover long-term investment costs from project budgets and to support collaboration immediately.
