Cambricon licenses Moortec’s 16nm in-chip monitor
Cambricon is a machine learning hardware startup that has received $100 million in a Series A round of finance, according to local reports (see China chip startup nets $100 million Series A).
Moortec, provides in-chip monitor IP for performance, voltage and temperature, which can be used as part of a feedback loop for voltage and frequency scaling of processors and as part of protection against over-temperature.
“After a comprehensive investigation on almost all commercial solutions, we concluded that the PVT sensors from Moortec were the best IP solutions that can meet our chip requirements,” said Daofu Liu, vice president at Cambricon, in a statement issued by Moortec.
