According to Transparency Market Research the market will show a CAGR of 19.7 percent between 2013 and 2019, the firm said. To track this CAGR implies an annual market of about $17.5 billion in 2014 and about $21 billion in 2015.
The market is being driven by demand in Asia-Pacific countries such as India, China, Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore where these devices are assembled into smartphones and tablet computers and subsystems for the automotive sector.
The smartphones was responsible for more than 80 percent of demand for camera modules in 2012. The market smartphones segment is expected to grow at a CAGR of 21.9 percet between 2013 and 2019, followed by the consumer electronics segment, which excludes tablet computers and smartphones.
The Asia-Pacific region was responsible for nearly 60 percent revenue shares of the total market. Europe holds the second largest market of the global camera module market. Major businesses operating in the global camera modules’ marketplace include SEMCO, Liteon Chicony, Toshiba, STMicroelectronics, LG-Innotek, Primax, Sharp, Foxconn, Sunny, Samsung Fiberoptic, BYD, Vista Point, Cowell, Truly, and KMOT, according to Transparency.
