The TB6818FG is a continuous conduction mode (CCM) PFC IC for use in applications such as high-end battery chargers and large LCD and PDP televisions with power supply requirements above 200 W. Targeted at lower power, sub-200 W requirements, the TB6819FG critical conduction mode (CRM) PFC IC will suit applications such as AC adaptors and lighting equipment.

Supplied in SSOP16 and SSOP8 packages respectively, the new PFC ICs are compact devices with high levels of integrated functionality. This includes protection against DC input overvoltage (OVP-1), PFC output overvoltage (OVP-2) and undervoltage lockout (UVLO), as well as feedback loop open detection (FOD) and thermal shutdown (TSD).

In addition, the TB6818FG incorporates a FET protection circuit, audible noise reduction, pulse output mute functionality and configurable AC instantaneous stop detection. The TB6819FG provides brownout protection (BOP) as standard.

Featuring an operating voltage range of 8.4 V to 26 V, the TB6818FG is rated for a typical startup voltage of 10 V. Operating voltages for theTB6819FG range from 10 V to 25 V with a typical startup voltage of 12 V. Both devices have a maximum drive current of 1.0 A (typical). Current consumption in standby mode for the TB6818FG is just 250 µA.
