The Askey Wave-2 802.11ac DOCSIS 3.1 gateway and three extenders (MOCA, based) are all equipped with Celeno’s technology including ControlAIR™ multi-AP management software and OptimizAIR™ 2.0 Wi-Fi management software technology. The 802.11ac Wave 2 gateway and MOCA extender also include Celeno’s Argus engine in-chip dedicated RF circuitry and DSP-based engine for spectrum scanner and analyzer.

According to Marvin Chen, the RD Head of Cable Research and Development team at Askey, “Faster Wi-Fi is not enough to master the challenges of today’s connected world, it needs to be smarter as well. We believe that Celeno’s industry-leading technology provides that missing link.”

The Argus engine enables zero wait DFS channels entry and automatic, seamless channel change that are critical for satisfying 4K video experience in “real life” congested spectrum environment. The technology enables the gateway to seamlessly transition between Wi-Fi channels to seek the cleanest spectrum for best operation. This transition does not affect service and offers flicker free video without downsizing the radio dimensioning.

ControlAIR™ multi-AP management software allows for increased capacity, coverage and speed of Wi-Fi when adding smart companion Wi-Fi access points, repeaters or extenders in the home. ControlAIR claims to be the only effective software to orchestrate multiple APs to increase throughput by adding smart cluster connectivity and dynamic radio resource management (RRM) addressing the move towards a “small cell” Wi-Fi network or “Sprinklers” architecture for the wireless home of tomorrow.

Finally, smart Wi-Fi software technology OptimizAIR™ 2.0 enables the virtualization and management of Wi-Fi resources, so that Wi-Fi capacity can be dynamically apportioned and provisioned to different devices, services and applications. It allows for homespots, IoT, home security and community Wi-Fi on different SSIDs with unprecedented reliability.
