Ceramic / quartz-based UVC LEDting diode outputs 3.8mW at 20mA
Offered in a 6x6x1.6mm surface-mount package, the device is claimed to deliver an extremely long lifetime. Comparable to devices in the PLCC2 package with emission angles of ±60°, the new device has an emission angle of ± 62.5° and high radiant power to 3.8mW at 20mA without the need for an external lens. Built on AlGaN technology, the UVC LED features forward current to 40mA, forward voltage down to 4.4V, and a wavelength range of 270nm to 290nm. The chip is compatible with reflow soldering processes and features a Moisture Sensitivity Level of 3 in accordance with J-STD-020. Samples of the new UVC emitting diode are available now. Production quantities will be available in Q1 2018 with lead times of eight weeks.
