Changing of the guard at Infineon’s C level: One leaves, two follow
Jochen Hanebeck who currently oversees Infineon’s automotive semiconductor business, was promoted to the Operations department, a newly created function in the management board. With the complexity of controlling 19 globally dispersed fabs and factories, this job is particularly demanding; current Infineon top executive Reinhard Ploss also led the manufacturing operations before he was appointed CEO.
Together with Hanebeck, Helmut Gassel has been promoted to the Executive Board. Gassel will follow into Mittal’s footsteps, assuming the responsibilities for strategy development, sales & marketing as well as regions. Gassel currently is Division President Industrial Power Control. Both promotions are effective July 1. In return, long-standing board member Arunjai Mittal will leave the Munich-based chipmaker by September 30. According to a company press release, there have been personal reasons for Mittal’s decision. Infineon expressively regrets Mittal’s decision. “We accept Arunjai Mittal’s decision heavy-hearted and with the greatest respect”, said supervisory board chair Wolfgang Mayrhuber. “We are very thankful for his outstanding performance.”
At the same time, the company announced the successors to Hanebeck’s and Gassel’s soon vacant posts: The leading position for the automotive business will be taken by Peter Schiefer, currently head of operations. Gassel’s position as division president Industrial Power Control will be taken by Peter Wawker who currently is member of the board of the power management and multimarket division.
