
China’s ATX Semiconductor moves into Malaysia
IC packaging and test service provider ATX Semiconductor Group has opened its first factory outside China in Melaka, Malaysia, with an investment of 258 Malaysian Ringgit (about US$55 million).
The plant, named as ATX Semiconductor (Melaka) Sdn. Bhd. has begun some manufacturing, according to the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA). MIDA added that volume production of packaged chips is expected to begin in 1H26. The factory will be producing a range of semiconductor products from small outline transistor (SOT), Quad Flat No Lead (QFN) to sensors.
Speaking at an opening ceremony held with the MIDA, Chris Hsu, CEO of ATX Group, said: “ATX investment in Malaysia reinforces ATX’s commitment in expanding world-class semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. The products and services ATX provide encompasses all industries including communication, automotive, consumer, industrial, high-performance computing and medical. ATX is strengthening the electronics supply chain for Malaysia and their customers worldwide.”
