Goodix is a leading supplier of fingerprint sensors and other biometric authentication solutions and also a supplier of ARM and RISC-V microcontrollers and Bluetooth communications chips (see Top ten Chinese chip companies ranked).

Dream Chip is design service company specialized in automotive vision systems (see Dream Chip shows ADAS processor on FDSOI). The company has more than 100 engineers in offices in Germany and the Netherlands. The company has a 30 year legacy going back to the formation of Sican by the government of lower Saxony in 1990. In 2000 it was acquired by Infineon Technologies and operated as Sci-worx. It was then bought by Silicon Image before a management buy-out in 2010 and the name change to Dream Chip.

Goodix said the acquisition of DCT helps it diversify its market strategy and engineering talent. DCT’s image signal processing adds to Goodix technologies and helps take the company from mobile into automotive.

“DCT’s track record of success and market validation are perfectly aligned with our strategic development in automotive applications and ISP offerings,” said David Zhang, CEO of Goodix, in a statement.
