Tsinghua Unigroup is the owner of both Spreadtrum Communications and RDA Microelectronics, two of the most successful Chinese fabless chip companies started in recent years. The report references Zhao as saying Tsinghua Unigroup will become a broad information technology group with business ranging from chip production, through chip design and sales up to cloud service companies. It also said Zhao foresees Tsinghua Unigroup being a focus for corporate and national strategy and for international cooperation and domestic market development.

Yangtze Memory Technology is set to start moving equipment into its wafer fab and will start small-scale production of 32-layer, 64Gbit NAND flash memory chips, the report quoted Zhao as saying.
