China’s XTX adopts Weebit’s ReRAM
The verification of the technology at XTX is an important step to proving the manufacturability of the silicon-oxide based resistive RAM and XTX is now expected to take the memory forward to commercialization. Weebit has also advised that it now expects to develop a memory module for a potential South Korean customer by mid-2020.
Weebit said it remains on track to transfer its technology to a production fab by December 2020.
Separately back at Leti Weebit Nano has demonstrated its arrays can be manufactured for embedded applications with a single added mask. The use of just one mask has beneficial implications for the reliability and cost of deploying the silicon-oxide based ReRAM.
Following the successful external testing of the ReRAM with XTX the two companies have begun investigating how Weebit’s ReRAM memory technology can be integrated into XTX products.
“We believe ReRAM will boom in the coming three-to-five years, driven by strong growth in 5G and AI. We will continue to work with Weebit to adapt the technology to our needs,” said Mark Long, CEO of XTX Technology, in a statement issued by Weebit Nano.
