The Xpeng P7 is the first production electric car with Level 3 autonomy. It is also the first EV to use Infineon’s 950 IGBT module, delivering up to 580A to the motor for 40s for a power boost for an acceleration of 0-100km/h in 4.3s, again taking on Tesla. The Bosch / Brembo braking system uses Bosch’s iBooster regenerative braking technology that recovers energy while braking.
The electric car is powered by Nvidia’s 30W Drive AGX system based on the Xavier processor chip. This runs the company’s XPILOT3.0 operating system, taking data from 12 ultrasonic sensors, 5 millimeter-wave radars and 14 cameras to provide self-driving capabilities ahead of Tesla of the US.

The 110mm high prismatic battery pack is supplied by CATL and gives a range of 706km from 80.9kWh of energy (170Wh/kg) in the more expensive long range version. Fast charging supplies a 30 per cent to 80 per cent charge in 28 minutess, with a 120km range available in 10 minutes.
The electronic control units can be updated over the air (OTA) over time. “Our philosophy of end-to-end closed-loop R&D is what sets us apart among China’s intelligent EV manufacturers,” said He. “Regular OTA upgrades will ensure that the P7 continues to grow and improve as we do.”
Prices range from US$32,462 to $49,404 and the P7 electric car ships this month in China.
