Chip-on-board LED modules allow scaling across wide power range
The concept offers designers the choice of using the entire COB or parts of it. Each segment can be used in separate light fittings. Thus, the designer can implement lighting solutions with a wattage between 10 W and 5000 W. The smallest X10 segment consists of a ceramic block with an area of 1cm2 and consumes 10 W of electric power. The efficacy level already is higher than 100lm/W, the company said. The ceramic carrier contains all the wiring needed to supply the integrated LEDs. For designs using the entire module this translates into a light intensity of 50.000 lumens out of one component.
The connections of the sub-modules are opened, where required, either by industrial means, or a simple mechanical operation. Due to various sizes and forms of the elements, they can be used in halogen lamp analogues, light fittings, fixtures with reflectors, as well as in industrial or street lights. The ceramic base and product material selection is based on long life performance by design.
The X10 is Optogan’s new flagship, said Markus Zeiler, General Manager of Business Unit International at Optogan in Landshut, Germany. "It offers modular solutions, is economical and simple to use for that additional degree of freedom in lighting design”.
