The Cisco ParStream analytics platform enables real-time edge analytics and massively parallel processing (MPP). This MPP architecture supports petabytes of data and facilitates subsecond response times.

Cisco ParStream’s proprietary database and geo-distributed analytics (GDA) servers help it resolve the challenges in IoT analytics through edge analytics. Unlike traditional analytics, which streams all data to a central server for analysis, edge analytics brings intelligence close to the data source and presents efficient and faster means of data transfer, query, and analysis. Additionally, its GDA, which can be spread over 1,000 locations, offers a smaller footprint and reduces the cost of ownership.

The analytics platform can handle more than 10 billion rows of data and stream 1 million rows per second, and is able to achieve up to 30 times faster query response times than its peers. This enables customers to efficiently deal with data growth, obtain real-time insights with minimal latency, and, ultimately, streamline operations, reduce costs, and achieve business goals.

Cisco ParStream has successfully served more than a dozen highly reputed customers across the renewable energy, manufacturing, telecommunication, and semiconductor industries. Following its acquisition by Cisco, the company’s focus has intensified on the lucrative Industrial IoT market and IoT applications in the emerging smart cities market.

“The combination of Cisco’s strong infrastructure and investment and Cisco ParStream’s superior IoT analytics technology has helped the latter plug the gaps in the IoT industry,” noted Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Prem Shanmugam. “It has been especially successful in supporting high-speed data streaming, rapid query processing and analysis, and large processing capabilities.”

Cisco has shown strong commitment to enhancing its IoT capabilities both organically and through acquisitions. Its leadership motivates the team to develop more cutting-edge technology that generates greater value for customers, firmly placing the company on a path to exponential market growth and technology leadership.
