Taoglas has introduced its new Patriot Antenna series, a compact roof-mounted antenna system aimed at connected fleets in emergency services, utilities, and commercial vehicles. The Patriot packs up to 18 antenna elements into a single low-profile enclosure, enabling seamless multi-network connectivity while streamlining installation and vehicle integration.

For eeNews Europe readers working with embedded systems, communications infrastructure, or connected fleet deployments, the Patriot Antenna addresses the increasingly complex demands of integrating 5G, Wi-Fi, and mission-critical communications into space-constrained vehicles.

Modular Connectivity for Demanding Fleets

Originally developed for Ford Interceptor platforms, the Patriot is designed to replace OEM antennas without requiring additional drilling. This not only preserves the vehicle’s structural integrity but also simplifies installation — an essential cost-saving advantage for public sector upfitters and commercial fleets. Users can retrofit vehicles without adding new holes or backfilling them at end-of-life, saving both time and materials.

The Patriot Antenna supports a broad range of frequencies, including 5G/4G (600–6000 MHz), dual-band GNSS (L1 and L1/L5) with secondary L1 GNSS, Wi-Fi (2.4, 5.8, 7.1 GHz), SDARS (2.3 GHz), and LMR/TETRA (380–400 MHz and 700–900 MHz). It also supports whip antennas for full P25 VHF/UHF/700–900 MHz operation, with length options based on specific frequency needs.

Ruggedized Platform with Custom Configurability

Built on a scalable, patent-pending platform, the Patriot Antenna comes in 17- and 18-in-1 configurations, with further variants planned to meet evolving customer requirements. Taoglas offers customization of cable types, lengths, and connectors, while maintaining consistent mechanical design and reliability. The enclosure is IK08 and IP69K rated, measuring 205 mm by 180 mm, with whip height options from 60 to 164 mm. It mounts between roof ribs using an OEM footprint, sealed by a custom-engineered foam gasket to prevent ingress and signal interference.

Chris Friend, Vice President of North American Sales for Mobility and Infrastructure at Taoglas, emphasized the product’s user-driven development: “The Patriot was developed in close collaboration with first responder agencies who told us they needed a simple, more reliable way to manage vehicle connectivity. This flexible antenna platform allows them to consolidate critical network functions into a single, rugged unit that’s easy to install and delivers dependable performance in the field when every second counts.”

In addition to its performance, the Patriot’s aerodynamic design and color-matching options help maintain a clean aesthetic for a range of vehicle types.

According to Taoglas, the Patriot Antenna can be pre-ordered now through GetWireless
