Offering frequencies from 1MHz to 6.1GHz with frequency sweep, frequency hopping using I&Q modulation, and arbitrary signal generation, Triarchy Technologies’ VSG6G1C can generate most of the modulated signals that RF engineers might need.

The test functions can be customized to meet the needs of proprietary and other nonstandard wireless protocols for field test situations as it can be conveniently added to a field service kit, and configured to operate standalone without any connected PC with just a 5V USB source or battery pack. The generator can also operate in ATE systems as a signal source module, simulating many different RF systems for test purposes.

With output levels up to 10dBm, signals can be delivered in CW, sweeping, and hopping modes. The unit features a built-in pulse generator for creating pulse modulation. The built-in arbitrary function generator adds the ability to generate a wide range of modulation modes, such as: I&Q modulation, AM, PM, FM analogue, FSK, ASK, PSK, MSK, GMSK, SFSK, as well as digital modulation schemes such as QPSK, 8PSK, QAM, and phase modulation types such as CDMA, TMDA, GSM and more. A reference clock input and output is provided.

Measuring 4″ x 1″ x 1″ and housed in a 3oz metal case, the signal output is provided via an N connector, while the I&Q connectors provide I&Q input and output. A pulse output is available at the rear of the unit for synchronization purposes or when using the device as pulse generator. Intuitive PC software is supplied which displays a simple desktop instrument front panel for adjustments and for setup.
