Compact Dynamics gains exclusive contract for FIA Rally series hybrid drives
The innovative electric drive system supplied by Compact Dynamics will be used in the new “Rally1” vehicle class for an initial period of three years from the 2022 season onwards. Compact Dynamics prevailed against a top-class field of applicants. The hybrid system in P3 topology (i.e. the electric motor is located between the transmission and differential and is firmly connected to the transmission output shaft) combines engine generator, control unit and battery in a very small installation space and with high power density. It offers the possibility to “boost” the combustion engine temporarily with an additional output of 130 HP (approx. 96 kW).
As a partner of Compact Dynamics, the company Kreisel Electric (Rainbach, Germany) supplies the battery for the hybrid system. Initial vehicle tests are scheduled for 2021.
As a development specialist and supplier in the field of innovative electric drive concepts, especially of high-performance drives, Compact Dynamics has been established for years in racing series such as the FIA Formula 1, the LeMans Prototype Class 1 or the FIA Formula E.
