Corrosion detection through IR impulse thermography

Fact is that corrosion causes damages worth billions. One way to detect corrosion is through visual surface inspection, which also can be carried out fully automated with a machine vision system. Relying on impulse-thermography, the ThermoCam LC (TCLC) infrared camera from EVT can detect corrosion defects which are invisible under the surface.
A flash heats the surface and the camera records the cooling of the material, highlighting defects under the surface as hot spots. The TCLC delivers up to 100 images per second and is already precalibrated. The noise (NETD) of only 0.2 K guarantees high resolution IR images and the IR camera has a measurement range from -50 up to +300°C.
