The MPSoC has 6 ARM cores and a Mali 400MP2 GPU (EG/EV variants) which are supported by up to 10 GByte of DDR4 SDRAM, standard interfaces, 178 user I/Os and up to 256,000 LUT4 equivalents. The device uses two independent memory channels – one on the PS and one on the PL – to allow it to provide a memory bandwidth of up to 24 GByte/sec. The module measures only 56 × 54 mm and has 16 GByte eMMC flash memory. Standard interfaces include Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, a display port, SATA and SGMII. The processing system and the FPGA matrix both feature four PCIe Gen2/3 connections.

System-on-Modules (SOM), such as the Mercury XU5 are designed to quicken time-to-market and lower development risks. SOMs can provide a lot of advantages over chip-down designs. The high production volume of off-the-shelf FPGA or SoC modules cuts their cost, while offering a proven and reliable solution. Different pin-compatible modules are manufactured in the same form factor, allowing more powerful, or more cost-effective modules to be dropped in if required. The high functional density of the FPGA modules reduce the complexity of the base board, making the overall design quicker and more cost-efficient to develop. The Mercury XU5 module can be used together with the Mercury+ ST1 or Mercury+ PE1 base boards to provide an off-the-shelf development and prototyping platform that cuts time-to-market even further.

Enclustra also provide a full ecosystem to complement the board. The package includes all of the hardware, software (Linux Board Support Package/BSP) and support materials needed to start on any design. Detailed documentation, reference designs, user manual, user schema, a 3D-model, PCB footprint and differential I/O length tables are also provided.
