The company claims that its SiRFstarV architecture together with SiRFusion location platform offers a significantly improved user experience for a range of location applications on mobile devices.

SiRFprimaII platform, meanwhile, improves the auto navigation experience for mainstream consumers, the company said.

Instead of relying solely on GPS to determine position, the SiRFstarV architecture gathers real-time information from GPS, Galileo, Glonass and Compass satellites, multiple radio systems, such as cellular and Wi-Fi, and multiple MEMS sensors, like accelerometers, gyros and compasses.

It combines this information with ephemeris data, mapping, cellular base station and Wi-Fi access point database information, and other cloud-based aiding information using the SiRFusion platform. By combining all this data, the SiRFstarV architecture is able to provide precise location and navigation indoors as well as outdoors, the company said.

Meanwhile, the SiRFusion self-learning, end-to-end location platform “fuses” multiple radio signals and sensor inputs to constantly provide location information reliably and accurately.

Mobile products using SiRFstarV and SiRFusion will be able to transition between outdoor and indoor navigation for users on the move, using a variety of location-enabled services and applications. The SiRFusion platform constantly updates its database automatically using crowd-sourcing techniques.

In similar fashion, the SiRFPrimaII platform brings the features of premium, location-aware in-vehicle infotainment systems to the mainstream market.

Combined with SiRFDRive dead reckoning software, the SiRFprimaII continues to navigate while the user drives in dense urban canyons, through tunnels or in multistory parking lots, according to the company.

The chip is integrated with new 3D graphics and video accelerators (from Imagination Technologies), ARM Cortex -A9 application processor and other key components.

CSR is currently demonstrating the SiRFusion platform on an early implementation of the SiRFstarV architecture.
