Daimler, Deutsche Telekom collaborate on automotive telematics
Car users will be able to use all online services as well as his Mercedes Benz apps through the ‘Comand Online’ system implemented in the vehicles. The specific telecommunications infrastructure required for these applications will be developed and provided by Deutsche Telekom. In addition, Telekom will also equip future Mercedes Benz generations with specific M2M SIMs (Subscriber Identification Module) and thus provide mobile data connectivity.
Horst Leonberger, General Manager of Deutsche Telekom’s Connected Car business activities, pointed out that his company disposes of the necessary resources to provide fast online and cloud services required to run these future applications.
A first glimpse to the novel applications that can be expected from the Daimler-Telekom collaboration will be shown at the Cebit exhibit in Hannover (March 5 through March 9).
