In order to benefit from Siri in a Mercedes-Benz, users need to possess an iPhone 4S or higher and connect it to the vehicle’s Drive Kit Plus option. There are no plans to support Siri directly through a car-integrated platform, the company clarified. Once connected, users can access all content on the smartphone. The content is displayed at the vehicle’s center display by means of a specific app named "Digital DriveStyle", developed by Daimler. Thus, customers can use the iPhone without taking their eyes off the road, Daimler said.
The feature will be available beginning spring 2013. A future version of the Drive Kit Plus option will also support Siri Eyes Free mode. This means that Siri can be launched by th push of a control button at the steering wheel.
A Daimler spokesperson added that the company also has plans to better integrate Android smartphones.
